Week 3- Depth of Field and Hyperfocal Distance

This week we had photography fundamentals with Ian Hylands (a professional sports photographer) and practiced with Depth of Field, Hyperfocal Distance, and the elements of motion.

We also had an introductory light painting class with Patrick Koslo- an amazingly talented photographer and a very inspiring person. Next week we get to do our own light painting projects!

School is great! I am learning an incredible amount of useful information and am having a blast!

Week 2

This week was all work and no play. We learned how to us our computers properly and spent time learning workflow. Not the most exciting week, but necessary. I did buy a new Nikon D7000 today and took a few photos with it...

By the way, I'm in love with this camera!

One week down, 51 to go!

Last week I participated in a five-day course of photography fundamentals to get me prepared for the next year of intense learning at VanArts. We discussed the moderately difficult technological knowledge of camera and how to achieve proper exposure and great quality images.

Main lesson that was drilled into our heads over and over and over....... ALWAYS shoot in RAW! Or we will be killed. Welcome to "A Year of Photographic Learning"!

Today was my first official day as a full time digital photography student. Let the fun begin!
